Playtech was the very first company to offer a live dealer casino, launching all the way back in 2003. All those years later and Playtech is still one of the leading providers of live dealer software, and with millions more people having access to high-speed internet connections live dealer casinos have never been so popular.
Apart from the standard live dealer games of blackjack, roulette and baccarat, Playtech offer a few tasty alternatives to the casinos they service. Casino Hold ‘Em is fast becoming a popular addition to live dealer casinos, and Playtech offer this among their live dealer output. They also have a version of Sic Bo, which is huge with Asian players. Finally Playtech are the only software provider currently offering a version of Hi-Lo at live casinos, although expect the competition to follow their lead if the popularity of this live game takes off.
Playtech services some of the biggest names in the online gambling industry, names like bet365, Betfair, Gala, William Hill, betFred, Titan and Paddy Power, to name just a few. In fact Playtech are second only to Evolution Gaming in terms of the amount of casinos they provide live dealer games for, and arguably boast a more impressive client list in terms of the volume of players using their casinos.
Pros and Cons
Playtech games do not offer a free play version of their live dealer games, so when you sit down to play get your game face on because you will be playing for real cash money. However, what you can count on from Playtech is superb picture and audio quality along with a massive range of gaming tables available 24/7 every day of the year. Playtech offer both European and Asian tables, making sure that they cater for the ever-expanding and extremely lucrative Asian market. There are professional and highly trained dealers at their Latvia and Philippines studios catering for both of these markets, and the Playtech sites are licensed by the very respected UK Gambling Commission.
Playtech are the originals when it comes to live dealer casinos, and in many people’s opinion they are still the best.
As far as I know, PlayTech is one of the biggest companies in the iGaming industry. They operate the largest online poker network in the world, but also create their own casino games, with vast majority of these being online slot machines.
It’s really good to hear they offer live dealer games, but free play should also be an option…
Sideshow Bob says
A couple of months ago, I was writing a review about this software provider. I admit, I have been quite hard on PlayTech for not being innovative, but they still hold a position of being among market leaders for online games. Now, if you are into super hero themed games or want to play slots with a progressive jackpot, look no further.
It would be fair to place them in either second or third place. NetEnt games are a step ahead of them, but they are certainly able to fight for a market share with MicroGaming who haven’t been inventing much as of late.
But… it’s all fine when we talk about video slots. Here, live dealer games are the subject and Playtech established themselves as one of the most reputable providers in this niche. The amount of offered titles is quite good and they all respond well to Oculus Rift headset.
We shall see what tomorrow may bring, but so far, they’re doing a good job.
